Mrs. Jackie Behrens - Grade 6 and Science/Art
I have been teaching at SJB since 1979. I am a graduate of University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a degree in elementary education Grades K-8. I have taught grades 4-8 at SJB. Because I like variety, I do not mind changing grade levels, although I do seem to stick with and enjoy 6th grade science. I am married to David and we have two daughters, Stacy and Krystal. They are both married and living in the area. I have three grandchildren, Harrison (5), Cora (4) and Leo (1). They keep me busy babysitting and just enjoying their love of life. I enjoy teaching and cannot think of any other job I would rather do. The children help to keep me alive and always learning. I enjoy seeing them learn and actually I enjoy learning from them every day. In my free time (ya right!) I enjoy fishing, doing art, reading and writing. I love to write children's plays, masses and books. I have self published several books of prayer services and masses including my recent, "Just Add Kids". My summers are spent teaching "Fun in the Arts" Sheboygan Falls Public Schools. Each year I co-author a summer play/musical and teach an art class that coordinates with the program. SJB has been a wonderful place to work. The children are eager to learn and enjoyable to work with. Throughout the years I have watched many people grow from elementary students to upstanding citizens in the community. I am very proud to be a teacher at SJB.

Ms. Jeanne Bitkers - Principal
I am delighted to be the Principal at St. John the Baptist Catholic School.  From the time I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher and serving at St. John the Baptist Parish has gives me the opportunity to work with students, teachers/staff and families in a caring Catholic community.

I graduated from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have a Teachers License as well as Principal and District Administrator Licenses.  I have taught at the elementary level, served as an Elementary Principal, first Principal at the SASD Early Learning Center, Director of Elementary Education and Co-Superintendent in the public schools. I am currently working on my doctorate at Cardinal Stritch University.

Being Catholic is a very important part of my life and I have been blessed with many opportunities to learn about and to grow in my faith.  I have completed the Certified Lay Ministry Program at St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee and the Preaching Institute there.

I have served as first Chairperson of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, a member of the Archdiocesan Synod Planning Committee, Chairperson of the Task Force on the Role of Women in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and a member of two Archdiocesan Planning Commissions.  I have also served as Parish Council Chairperson and Trustee, as well as a Minister of the Eucharist and the Word.  In addition, because of my successful participation in the Preaching Institute at St. Francis Seminary and with permission of the Archdiocesan Chancellor and my Pastor, I was able to preach at an occasional Sunday Liturgy and on other occasions in my home parish for more than 6 years.

Because I believe each of us is called to use the gifts and talents that we have been given to serve God and God’s people, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the more than 275 students who so generously share their caring spirit here at St. John the Baptist Catholic School.

Mrs. Kathy Burch - Grade 2
I have taught a variety of grades in Catholic Schools since 1984 ranging from first grade through fifth grade. During the late nineteen eighties, I taught fourth grade here at SJB for three years before we moved to Illinois where I taught first grade at St. Mary School. My family and I returned to Wisconsin in 2000 and I worked two years at St. Gregory School in St. Nazianz teaching reading, math, and religion. In 2002, the third grade position at SJB was offered to me when Mrs. Mader retired. Quickly I accepted and was ecstatic to be coming back. My family and I live in Sheboygan where my husband, Michael is Deacon and parish director of St. Peter Claver Church. Ryan, our son, is currently attending college. (He is a product of St Mary Catholic School in DeKalb, IL.) I graduated with a teaching degree in Elementary and Special Education from UW-Whitewater and continue to take grad classes during the summer besides tutoring students. In my free time, you will find me teaching Religious Education for the Tri-Parishes on the Southside of Sheboygan, gardening, biking, reading, or attending one of my husband’s or son’s band concerts. Visit my website (Classroom username and password are provided to parents).

My husband, Dennis, teaches at Oostburg Middle School, and we have two children, Benjamin and Ashley.

Mrs. Kelly Drews - 3 and 4 Early Childhood
I live in New Holstein with my husband and two children. I love the creative outlet that teaching offers and the unique qualities each child brings into the classroom. When I am not in school, I am the leader for my daughter’s Girl Scout troop, spending time outdoors with my family, or learning to play golf with my husband. I am currently attending Silver Lake College ad continuing my education in Early Childhood. I love the collaboration with other teachers and the direct application of new ideas in the classroom. Ms. Julie Murphy - Grade 5
I grew up in McHenry, Illinois.  I was the only daughter from a family of seven whose parents believed a Catholic education was extremely important. Montini Catholic Elementary School in McHenry and Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, Illinois are my alma maters.  Northern Illinois University became the college experience for me.  My first teaching job was with 27 second graders at Montini until I married Steve Murphy almost twenty years ago and moved to Emporia, Kansas.  I enjoyed teaching for 6 years in Kansas, Streator, Illinois, and Lake Zurich, Illinois until we started a family of our own in Plymouth, Wisconsin. I have almost fifteen years of “mom” experience with two beautiful daughters, Marissa and Keston who are practically grown, but thank goodness still come around for hugs throughout the day.  When I went back into teaching, I became a reading resource teacher at Horizon Elementary until I became the new fifth grade teacher at SJB in August of 2007.  The SJB Fifth Grade Jaguars are looking forward to an exciting year of seeing Jesus through other people, the sacraments, and prayer, not to mention learning many new subjects and using all of our God-given talents. I began my career in teaching as a Spanish specialist both at St. John the Baptist School and at Howards Grove Middle School where I piloted an Exploratory Foreign Language Program. I am a very well rounded, hand-ons, and flexible person. Besides being a Spanish Specialist, I have had the amazing experience of teaching 4K, First, Second, Third, Sixth and Seventh Grades in a regular education role. I am married and have two sons who keep me very busy outside of teaching. Visit my website.

Mrs. Janette Schroeder - Media Center /Library
Blessings and welcome to St. John the Baptist School! I am the librarian and Computer tech since 2000. I find working at St. John’s extremely rewarding; there are always smiling faces, friendly greetings, and a work together type attitude (not only as a staff, but with the students and parents as well). Working at SJB has only reaffirmed my life dream of becoming a teacher and working with students that struggle. I believe every child can learn, we as parents and educators need to find out how and then teach the child how to advocate for him/her self. I attended UW-Oshkosh directly out of high school, and then made the decision to marry and have a family. Twenty-four years later, I am enrolled as an honor student at UW-Sheboygan. I also have been trained as a tutor in Orton-Gillingham (a phonetic program), and volunteer through Sheboygan Literacy Counsel. Children are our future, and I find gratification in helping to make it bright. In 2002, I started a Middle School Forensics Team at SJB, which I have coached along with Mrs. Behrens and Ms. William. I am also involved in 4-H, where I have been a leader since 1991 and was honored in 2005 with the “Meritorious Service Award” Visit my website for more information on Educational Internet Games, Keyboarding activities, Author Information, Book Reviews and MLFA Forensics.

Ms. Marylou Stanick - Middle School
After seeing to it that my two children were on their way to being raised, I decided to go back to school.  So at the ripe old age of forty, I enrolled in Lakeland College.  I earned my Bachelors Degree in Education and English graduating in June 1992.  Originally, I wanted to teach first or second grade, but when the call came in offering me the middle school English position, I said,  “I’ve always wanted to teach seventh and eight grade!”  Since my first 1992-1993 school year at Saint John the Baptist, I have never been sorry for my decision.

Ms. Jean Vogel - Spanish
¡Hola! ¡Bienvenido a San Juan Bautista! I have had the privilege to teaching Spanish at St. John the Baptist since 2000. Students start learning Spanish in first grade. I really enjoy being able to see how our students mature and improve their language skills each year. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and in Spanish at Lakeland College. In addition to Spanish, I am also certified to teach grades one through nine and English as a second language. Although teaching is second career choice for me, I have always been involved with helping children resolve challenges in their lives and achieve their goals. I earned my first degree in Psychology from Beloit College. I have worked with children and families who have experienced severe violence. I am a strong believer in Catholic education. I am a graduate of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Kiel. I think that we are fortunate to live in an area where the values and morals we cherish as Catholics are reflected in the community as a whole. I enjoy music, travel, books, and spending time with friends and family.

Ms. Gigi Wagner - Grade 3
My name is Geralyn Wagner but I prefer to be called Gigi. For over 20 years, I have been year at St. John the Baptist School. I am a graduate of Marian College in Fond du Lac with a Bachelor Degree in Education. My certification is Nursery School through Third Grade. I’ve taught First, Second, and Third Grade, while being employed here at St. John’s. The reason I went into teaching is my love for children. As the saying goes, “I’ve never met a child I didn’t love.” By the end of the year I feel as if every child I’ve taught is a part of me. I treasure children and want to give each child I teach the best education possible. On a personal level, I am the youngest of ten children. I have fourteen nieces and nephews and twenty-one great nieces and nephew. Each one of them is also very important in my life.

Ms. Robyn Williams - Guidance
I work for Catholic Charities in Sheboygan and am contracted out to two schools in the area. My background is in Clinical Psychology; I received my undergraduate degree from Marian College, and my M.A. from Wheaton College in Illinois. I have been at my current position here at SJB since 2001 and am greatly enjoying this opportunity to work with the students and help them as they grow. Besides conducting weekly Guidance classes for grades 1st through 8th, I also offer individual counseling services for students, and consultant services for parents as needed. Since I am trained as the Supportive Consultant, I do the initial screening assessments for students who may need accommodations as well. Students are encouraged to leave a note in my mailbox if they wish to speak with me about a problem or concern. I try to make the Guidance office an inviting place with a candy dish on my desk and student artwork on the walls. Parents are also welcome to stop by or call with any questions they might have. I am available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
